Scholarships for domestic students

UQ College is dedicated to providing all Australians with the opportunity to study at university.

Our pathway programs aim to provide disadvantaged students with the preparation and knowledge they need to succeed at university.

We offer a range of scholarships and bursaries to support domestic students who are:

from a low socio-economic background,
regional or remote residents, or
of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent.

Face to Face Bridging Courses

About the program

This is a full-time, intensive four-week course. It's ideal if you have just finished high school and need to fulfil a subject prerequisite before applying to UQ next semester. You can choose either Biology, Chemistry, Mathematical Methods or Physics. Taught at our St Lucia campus, you can get a head start on university life by studying at UQ College.

2025 Bridging Course Scholarship

UQ College is offering 15 scholarships for students who are from a low socio-economic background, regional and/or remote areas or of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander origin.

Fully funded scholarships ($1500 each)

Regional or remote

Fully funded scholarships ($1500 each) plus accommodation for the duration of the program ($2535 each)

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander

Fully funded scholarships ($1500 each)

Eligibility and application requirements:

Equity Criteria
Applicants must identify with at least one of the following equity groups:
- Individuals from a low socio-economic background
- Residents of regional or remote areas
- People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
Academic requirements
A minimum Grade B in English and three other academic subjects completed in Year 11.
Deferral policy
The scholarship cannot be deferred.
Supporting documentation
Selected candidates must upload evidence to support their application, which may include:
- Proof of financial circumstances (e.g. Centrelink statement, tax notice)
- Confirmation of regional, rural or remote residency
- Verification of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status.

Application process

You will automatically be considered for one of the scholarships if you meet the eligibility criteria and submit the required documentation.

Successful applicants will be notified in writing by UQ College and must accept their scholarship within 2 weeks.

Online Bridging Courses

About the program

Delivered online, these self-paced courses allow you to complete a prerequisite for General Mathematics or Mathematical Methods from your own home. You’ll have access to weekly online check-ins and learning support from our highly qualified teachers at UQ College.

All you need is reliable internet access and a computer with a webcam and a microphone.

Online Bridging Course Bursary

A 50% bursary will be offered to 15 students who study either Pure Mathematics (Mathematical Methods) or General Mathematics. This bursary is intended to support domestic students from either a low Socio-Economic Status (SES) or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.

Bursary value

Based on 2026 fees, the bursary applies a 50% reduction to fees as follows:

Pure Mathematics: ~~$1,020~~→ $510

General Mathematics: ~~$680~~ → $340

Eligibility

To be eligible, the student must fulfil all of the following criteria:

Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Indicate in your application for the Online Bridging Course that you would like to apply for the bursary.
Meet one of the following conditions
- Be from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background
- Be from a Low Socio-Economic background

Application process

Apply for the Online Bridging Course.
During the application form, indicate that you would like to apply for the bursary, and which criteria you meet.
Upload documentation that proves you meet these criteria.
- For Low Socio-Economic Bursary – Your financial circumstances (Centrelink statement, tax notice, etc.)
- For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Bursary – Proof of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status
Complete the application.

If successful, you will be notified that you have received the bursary once your application has been processed. You must accept the bursary within 2 weeks of receiving this confirmation.

Foundation Program

About the program

The Foundation Program is designed to enable international students to meet the minimum entry requirements for their preferred UQ undergraduate program. The Accelerated Foundation Program runs for 4 months, while the Standard Foundation Program runs for 10 months.

You will select 5 subject courses and study full-time for 5 days a week.

High Achievers Diversity Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to support international students from eligible countries with the opportunity to study either our Accelerated Foundation Program or Standard Foundation Program in September 2026. The scholarship is a 20% reduction of the coursework fees.

Scholarship value

Based on the 2026 course fees, the scholarship value is:

Accelerated Foundation Program	$4,988 AUD
Standard Foundation Program	$7,256 AUD

Eligibility

You must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible:

Hold a passport from an eligible country*.
Have academic results that are 80% or above for their Top 4 academic subjects in their final high school academic transcript;
Have received an unconditional offer for a Relevant program^† beginning in September 2026;
Have not received another scholarship, tuition fee reduction or rebate from UQ or UQC;
Have not received a full scholarship/ sponsorship from another organisation (applicants with partial scholarships/ sponsorships will be considered at the University’s discretion).

You do not need to apply for this scholarship. When applying to study the Foundation Program, you will be automatically considered for this scholarship if you meet the eligibility criteria.

Integrated English

About the program

Integrated English is a standalone English language program designed to improve your listening, speaking, reading and writing. It's a flexible program ideal for a range of English levels and learning goals; whether that is further study, employment opportunities, travel, or something else.

Integrated English Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to support international students from eligible countries to enrol in our Integrated English program. Scholarship recipients must choose to study for a minimum of 15 weeks and up to a maximum of 45 weeks.

The scholarship is available until the final intake starting on 9 November 2026.

Scholarship value

Scholarship recipients will receive a 30% reduction in tuition fees and will have their enrolment fee waived.

Eligibility

To receive this scholarship, you must:

Hold a passport from Ghana, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Sri Lanka, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam or an eligible country in Europe^ or Latin America*.
Have an English Language Proficiency of at least IELTS 3.5 (no band below 3.5) or equivalent.
Have not received another scholarship, tuition fee reduction or rebate from UQ or UQC.
Have not received a full scholarship/sponsorship from another organisation (partial scholarships/sponsorships will be considered at UQC’s discretion).
Be willing to participate in marketing activities, including videos, social media posts and testimonials to promote UQ College.

Bridging English Diversity Scholarship

About the program

Bridging English (BE) is the English language pathway to The University of Queensland. Students learn BE for up to 30 weeks, with the final assessment meeting the "minimum' English language requirement for undergraduate and postgraduate programs at UQ.

Bridging English Diversity Bursary

This bursary is designed to support international students from eligible countries to enrol in Bridging English on their pathway to The University of Queensland. Bursary recipients will have a 30% reduction in tuition fees, and the enrolment fee will be waived.

All fees and related reductions are based on a student’s date of commencement at UQ College. Based on 2026 course fees, the award value is:

Bridging English + Postgraduate Early Acceptance Bursary

This bursary is open to Chinese students who are studying Bridging English + a UQ postgraduate program. If you accept your packaged offer 12 weeks before your BE class start date, you will receive an exclusive 20% reduction on BE tuition fees — a valuable opportunity to strengthen your English skills and start your studies with conﬁdence.

Bursary value

This program offers a 20% reduction in tuition fees for Bridging English. This does not include enrolment fees or student services and materials fees.

To receive this scholarship, you must:

Hold a valid Chinese passport
Accept your Bridging English + UQ Postgraduate packaged conditional offer at least 12 weeks before your BE course start date
