A domestic pathway to study at UQ

Gain the confidence, skills, and support that enable you to succeed in a university-style learning environment and take the next step toward your degree.

The Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP) is a supportive pathway designed to help you meet the minimum selection rank (ATAR 70) for entry into a UQ undergraduate degree. The highest possible ATAR to achieve in the program is 93.

  • A fresh start after high school challenges: If high school did not go to plan and you are now ready to succeed in a university-style environment, our program allows you to build your confidence, study skills, and independence.
  • Build strong academic foundations: You'll develop the academic skills and subject knowledge needed to meet UQ entry requirements.
  • Supportive and personalised learning: Benefit from small class sizes, experienced teachers, and dedicated learning support that prepares you for long-term academic success.

This is a Fee-Free Uni Ready course. The TPP is delivered full-time over 30 weeks, with classes held at UQ St Lucia to give you an authentic university experience from day one.

Applications for the next intake open 17 August 2026.

Testimonial student Jessica Sparrow from the UQ College Tertiary Preparation Program

The TPP allowed me to get into UQ. Without the TPP and the support I had from UQ College, I wouldn’t have achieved the results that I did. UQ College offered so much support both academically and emotionally through learning advisors, counsellors and the teachers that it made balancing study, work and personal life way more manageable. I will forever advocate for the Tertiary Preparation Program and hold a special place in my heart for UQC.
