Tertiary Preparation Program

This page explains how to withdraw from the Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP) at UQ College, including important academic considerations.

If you are enrolled in a different UQ College program, please contact studentadmin@uqcollege.uq.edu.au or speak with your Academic Manager for advice.

Before you withdraw

Withdrawing from a course or program may have academic consequences, depending on when you withdraw.

If you are experiencing serious health or personal difficulties, withdrawing as early as possible may help you avoid unnecessary penalties.

In some instances, you may be able to complete your course with the help of academic adjustments such as:

  • assessment extensions, and
  • deferred examinations.

Students should speak to their teacher about academic adjustments.

Before you withdraw from a course or program, check:

1. Support and advice

We strongly recommend seeking advice before withdrawing, to ensure you understand your options and the potential consequences.

Due to the TPP being supported by the Australian Government, you're able to withdraw without any financial penalties. However, you will still receive an academic penalty if you withdraw after the census date.

If you do not intend to complete the program, we strongly encourage you to withdraw before the census date, as your Commonwealth Supported Place can then be offered to another student.

Before withdrawing, you may want to:

  • Speak to a UQ College Learning Adviser or Welfare Adviser and explore the support available to you.
  • Apply for an exam deferral or an assignment extension, if appropriate.
  • Consider dropping one of your courses if you are studying 5, to reduce your workload.
  • Contact academicmanager@uqcollege.uq.edu.au to discuss your options.
