Withdrawing from the TPP
This page explains how to withdraw from the Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP) at UQ College, including important academic considerations.

Before you withdraw
Withdrawing from a course or program may have academic consequences, depending on when you withdraw.
If you are experiencing serious health or personal difficulties, withdrawing as early as possible may help you avoid unnecessary penalties.
In some instances, you may be able to complete your course with the help of academic adjustments such as:
- assessment extensions, and
- deferred examinations.
Students should speak to their teacher about academic adjustments.

The date you withdraw determines whether any academic penalties apply.
Make sure you’re aware of these key dates before withdrawing:
- Census date - Withdraw without academic penalty
- Date to withdraw with an academic penalty
- Date to withdraw with a greater academic penalty

Withdrawing from a course
Before the census date
If you withdraw from a course on or before the census date:
- The course is deleted from your record,
- It will not appear on your Studies Report or official transcript,
- You will not receive an academic penalty.
After the census date
- You may receive an academic penalty, depending on the withdrawal date.
After the date to withdraw with an academic penalty
- A grade of W (Withdrawn) will be recorded on your courses,
- The grades will appear on your Studies Report.
After the date to withdraw with a higher academic penalty
- A grade of K (equivalent to 0) will be recorded on your courses,
- The grades will appear on your Studies Report,
- The K grades will be calculated as part of your GPA.
